5 Must-Haves for Your Upcoming Girl’s Trip

Whether it’s a bachelorette weekend in a city that never sleeps, a birthday weekend at the beach, or a mommy getaway enjoying margaritas poolside in the tropics, there’s no doubt that you are looking forward to rounding the girls up for an epic getaway. With all of the excitement, you may want to get a head start on packing. Before you know it, your much-anticipated trip will be here and you may want to plan on taking specific items to coordinate with your besties. Before you do, here are a few items you may want to think about packing in your suitcase.

Coordinating dresses

For bachelorette trips especially, it makes the bride-to-be feel extra special when she wears something that stands out from the rest of her girlfriends. For example, a fun brunch that requires getting all dolled up in dresses could be a way to let her wear an all white dress while the rest of the crew wears blush colored ensembles. The best way to achieve this is by shopping at places such as the women’s boutique clothing at Poppywells as a group so that you can all agree on a style and have them ordered and shipped prior to your trip. This will ensure that everyone is included and happy with the decision. Make sure you contact the brand before you checkout to make sure they have enough sizes in stock for the entire group.

When choosing dresses for the entire crew. Be sure to be mindful of body types. One cut may not look as good on the other person or the styles may not be something the rest of the girls feel comfortable wearing. Be open to ideas and feedback and pick something that everyone will be happy and excited to wear together.

Shoes

When it comes to shoes, you should always bring a few styles — sneakers, heels, and sandals. Depending on the length of your trip, you may want to bring a couple of styles in each. However, if it’s just for the weekend, a pair of each should be fine especially if you can mix and match them with your different vacation outfits. You should also look over the itinerary to make sure you’ve got the appropriate shoes and clothing packed for the activities planned.

When packing your shoes, don’t forget to pack shoe inserts such as Dr. Scholl’s cushion inserts for the ball of your feet if wearing heels, and inserts for your other styles especially flats. While your shoes may be comfortable during your everyday activities, they will feel a lot different during your trip. That’s because you’ll be in them a lot longer than you normally would. For example, a pair of flats on your everyday run to the grocery store doesn’t seem to bother you. Not only are you driving to get errands such as these done, you’re also not in them for quite as long. When you’re on vacation you tend to be in one pair of shoes a lot longer than on an average day. If you’ll be out on a walking tour or walking for long periods of time shopping and getting to know the area you can bet you’ll be so grateful you brought these helpful cushions for your feet.

Bags

Because no look is complete without the perfect handbag to go along with the outfit, you should bring a few handbags. A clutch, for example, is easy to pack because it’s so small making it the perfect handbag for a dinner date with the girls. If you’re planning on lounging by the pool all day, a tote to carry your towel, sunscreen, magazines, and other pool time essentials is a stylish way to have convenience all in a bag. Another perk to a tote bag is that most of them will fold flat in luggage so it won’t take up too much space. If sightseeing is on the agenda, a belt bag or mini backpack may be more comfortable for the day’s adventure.

It’s a good idea to bring travel-size essentials to pack in your bags during your trip. Items like a small bottle of hand sanitizer, lotion, perfume, lip balm, and anything else you need. It may also be smart to use Apple pay on your phone so that you don’t have to worry about carrying your bulky wallet everywhere and save some much needed space in your bag.

Accessories

If you have a theme for your girls trip, a great way to kick off the vacation would be to have personalized accessories for the crew to wear. Accessories such as a personalized beach hat makes a great gift if celebrating your bride tribe or for a themed-vacation keepsake for pictures while laying on the beach with your girls. Another personalized accessory for your girl squad are personalized t-shirts for those days you plan on sightseeing or going out for a casual lunch or cocktail hour. Other fun personalized accessories to pack with you are custom printed beach towels, personalized water bottles, and even a personalized beach tote.

Because these types of orders take time to process you’ll want to order any custom accessories ahead of time. Not only will you avoid the rush fee on delivery, you’ll have the opportunity to review the items beforehand to make sure it’s exactly what you invisioned. It also allows for the rest of the group to get theirs in time to pack. Which brings up another point, try to avoid ordering breakable items. The easier it is to pack, the better.

Swimsuit

If you’re headed to a beach, a swimsuit for everyday is a must. If you’re headed to the city, you may want to bring a couple of swimsuit to hang out at the hotel’s pool. Another reason you may need a swimsuit even if you’re not headed to a tropical destinations to have a spa day with the girls. Every girl needs a spa day to relax and get pampered so if you can make time to schedule a day of relaxation, do it. Afterall, it’s supposed to be a vacation. A lot of spas have indoor pools and hot tubs that you can soak in for hours with your squad and bringing your own swimsuit may be more comfortable for you.

Along with your swimsuits, you will also need a few cover-ups. A stylish and fashion-forward cover-up ensemble not only makes a statement, it also does just as the name says, to cover you up as you lounge around in your favorite one or two-piece. The best part about a cover-up is that they are the most comfortable no matter what style or cut you choose. Whether you choose bottoms such as pants or skirts to show off your bikini top and abs you have been working on especially for this trip, or if you choose to use your one piece as a bodysuit, you can’t go wrong with either one. If you are more of a full coverage type of gal, there are endless styles of tunic, maxi dress, and mini romper and dress cover-ups to show off your style.

Remember to bring your fancy camera and to have enough memory on your phone to take tons of pictures and videos to document each moment with your besties, especially if you’ll be coordinating and matching cute outfits and accessories together. If you know you’re going to be doing something super special and unique, it may be a good idea to hire a professional photographer and videographer at your destination so you can all pitch in and not worry about taking the perfect shot or missing any moments. It’s also a great way to have a little keepsake that you can each have and look back on the memories on the most epic girls trip you ever had.
