5 Gym Bag Essentials

It can be very frustrating when you get all the way to the gym or your sports class and realize you have forgotten some important equipment! There are so many different products and items that you can use to help improve and enrich your workout, but there are some basic staples that you might find very useful to keep in your gym bag that can help during the majority of workouts, whether it is leg day or a HIIT class. Here are five gym bag essentials to get you started.

Headphones

Listening to music whilst you work out has plenty of benefits. It can help motivate you, or distract you! However, some styles of headphones may be more of a distraction than you want. They can get in the way, be tangled in equipment or keep falling out, leaving you annoyed and possibly even breaking them. Fortunately, there are plenty of headphones that are made to be used at the gym. Wireless headphones are a good idea, as there are no wires or leads to get tangled up or fall in the way. For extra security, overhead headphones can have a bit of extra grip, and can be less likely to fall out of your ears and get lost or damaged.

Water bottle

It is incredibly important to remain hydrated whenever you are working out, and having a water bottle with you at all times can remind you to do this. Instead of using a single use plastic bottle, consider a more sustainable option. Investing in one of these will save you money in the long run, and will also be much better for the planet. There are plenty of styles and designs to choose from, some with extra features like infusers or the ability to keep your water cooler for longer.

Yoga mat

A yoga mat is a very useful product to own. Not only are they great for yoga classes, having your own means that you don’t have to share at the gym and that you can use it wherever you need. There may not be enough communal mats at the gym, or they may not be of the best quality or condition. Yoga mats are also great to use in your at-home workouts, or just for sitting outside on.

Resistance bands

These are a simple way to add an extra challenge to your regular workout. Resistance bands are typically used to simulate weightlifting, without touching any weights. They are incredibly flexible and loaded with tension, and come in different sizes to be used on different parts of the body. Furthermore, they barely take up any room in your gym bag, and weigh practically nothing, making them perfect to keep in your gym bag.

Combination lock

While not technically a product to help with your workout, combination locks are very important when using lockers. Not only do they help you store your belongings securely, but they also prevent you from accidentally locking your key in your locker, or being unable to open it if you lose the key.
